Maddie's Smurf Birthday Cake! 11/2012

My niece Maddie wanted me to make her a Smurf cake for her 9th Birthday! I was so excited because this was the first cake I had ever made for her so I wanted to make sure she loved it! Although I didn't have the time or talent to make the Smurfs by hand I did make the flowers and mushrooms out of fondant! The top cake was chocolate (per her request) and the bottom layer was vanilla to please everyone else! lol! The cake was a hit! Love nothing more then when I have people tell me they love it! :)

Makayla's 5th Birthday! 11/2012

Happy Birthday to my little Monkey of a niece Makayla! She wanted a Little Mermaid cake so I did my best in the time I had (which wasn't much!) She loved it so thats all I cared about!

Ashley & Jared's Wedding 11/17/12

My friend Ashley from work asked if I could make her wedding cake for her...I was so excited that she asked me! I made a combination of cupcakes and a mini wedding cake (85 Cupcakes to be exact). The cake was vanilla and chocolate marbled together with vanilla buttercream. Each cupcake had a handmade edible flower with the color of her bridesmaid dresses dotted in the center of each one. My mom also handmade bows for the front of each cupcake to dress them up! So thankful she was able to help me do that and come with me to help me set it all up on the day of the wedding! We went back and forth on how to display the cupcakes and cake without the worry of it toppling it over since it was an outdoor wedding. Since it was more of a rustic wedding we went with baskets to show them off. She loved it and that was all I cared about! So honored she asked me to do this for them! :)

Black & Pink Zebra Birthday Cake/Cupcakes!

One of my clients from work had asked me if I could create a black and pink zebra cake or cupcakes for her daughters birthday. I of course was up for the challenge...I love when I am approached to make something completely different from anything I have made before! The cake/cupcakes were chocolate with vanilla buttercream. I hope they like it! :)

Mocha Cake & Mocha Buttercream!

My family friend Liz wanted a chocolatey cake, so I made her a mocha cake with mocha buttercream. I was limited on time for the decoration so she had mentioned that it was Gold Star month at the Veterans Home so I added a Gold Star and mentioned the September birthdays! Per Liz, the cake was another big hit! :)

Mmmmm Peanut Butter Cup Cake!

I got this idea for this cake off Pinterest. I couldn't not try it especially when my brother said he wanted me to make it for his birthday. Since it was such a large cake I decided to do it for my husbands and my brothers birthdays....my brother likes vanilla cake, so the top layer cake was vanilla and the bottom layer was mocha. The interior layers had crushed up peanut butter cups as well as the outside layers. It was covered in peanut butter buttercream and chocolate ganache. It was a big hit amoung our family!!

Peanut Butter, Oh My! 8/30/12

I was asked by a friend of my family to create a cake for her "staff" at the VA Nursing home she runs. She said that they have a staff meeting once a month and if she likes my cake she will use me every month from here on out! Her request for this month was a peanut butter cake with peanut butter frosting. At first I was a little taken back because I was thinking it was going to be a lot of peanut butter!! I didn't want to overload them on the first cake I made for them but that was her request so I was going to try and make it taste great! I made my simple basic white cake and added peanut butter to it. The taste wasn't too strong and I was happy about that since my peanut butter frosting is very peanut buttery! So here it is...it wasn't my best looking cake because I was on a severe time crunch (she gave me the info about 24 hours in advance), so I made do with what she told me...it was Purple Heart month and a lady was retiring so I wrote "Happy Retirement."

**Received a voicemail from her today and she said for the first time ever there was no leftover cake! She said everyone went crazy over it! Her words were that everyone thought it wasn't too sweet and it was the perfect balance of flavors! She said she would be using me for sure every month! Woohoo!! I seriously think there is nothing better than positive feedback!!**

Minnie for Madeline! 8/26/12

Jeff (husband) came home last week with a picture of a cake one of his co-workers asked if I could attempt to make for her daughters 4th birthday! I was so excited because it was my first real challenge cake someone has asked me to do!! It was a lot of work but it was such a great experience for me to learn how to do certain things for the first time! The cake itself was vanilla, the bottom cake had vanilla buttercream and the top cake was peanut butter buttercream. All the decorations were handmade out of fondant! I went to drop off the cake this afternoon and the little girl loved it (which made all the work I put into it worth it!)

Bekki's Baby Shower 7/2012

My sister in-laws baby shower was a lot of fun/hard work to pull together but everyone had a great time and therefore it was all worth it! Here are some pictures of the sweets and favors I did for her special day!!

Her shower theme was "little peanut" so I made Elephant sugar cookies for her favors I packaged them with Nutter butter cookies to make it look like peanuts! :)

Here are the favors all packaged up!

I know this isn't a sweet but I love how my Elephant Motorcycle diaper cake came out! :)

Mini chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with peanut butter and vanilla butter cream! And the top cake is vanilla and chocolate cake with vanilla butter cream and I hand made the cake topper out of fondant! :)

Another cupcake stand with just cupcakes. I made the cupcake toppers out of little elephant paper punches I made and hot glued them to toothpicks! :)

The Mommy to Be!! As you see in the background, I hung pictures of all her maternity shots that I did for her throughout her pregnancy! I am so glad I was able to do all of this for her special day! :)

Chrissy's Baby Shower 8/18/12

My friend Jamie asked me to make her some cupcakes for her daughters baby shower and of course I agreed...as you can see it's been a while since I have done something!! I have been so busy over the summer with the kids that it was nice to get back into the swing of things and do something that I love!

She wanted vanilla cupcakes with chocolate, peanut butter and vanilla buttercream. The colors she wanted me to use was white and turqouise...well let me tell you dying the peanut butter ones were simple since the buttercream is still pretty light in color and the white ones were a given that they would obviously stay white....the chocolate ones however were a challenge...my first batch of chocolate buttercream I tried to dye it turqouise and I came out with a baby poop color green which I figured wouldn't be too appetizing! So I made a second batch and just kept it the natural chocolate color. I made the flower pieces out of fondant which were a challenge but I was able to create 32 of them to top each cupcake with! It's all worth the hard work especially when I get positive feedback from people! Thank you Jamie for letting me do these for you! :)

My Mom's Birthday Trifle 5/26/12

This is one of mine and my familys favorite desserts! It's so light and low in fat that we seem to be drawn to it!! I use fat free angel food cake that I purchase at the store (who doesn't love a short cut!?),  instant, fat free, sugar free, vanilla pudding, and cool whip. I make the pudding according to the package and stick it in the fridge. Next I cut up some fresh strawberries and blueberries. Once the pudding is set I mix in a small tub of Light Cool Whip so it makes like a moose almost. Then I layer small chunks of angel food cake, pudding mix and fruit. The top layer I just added more cool whip! It's so yummy! :)

Happy EMS Week!! 5/24/12

My husband works for Sarasota Memorial Hospital and his boss had called me and asked if I could make a cake for EMS week. He wanted a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting that said 'Happy EMS Week' and it needed to be big enough to feed at least 50 people. The only draw back was that he needed it in 2 days...well more like 24 hours because it was late on Tuesday when he called and he needed it Thursday morning! I of course said yes! I never pass up a chance at a new challenge! Let me tell you, you can't tell how big this cake was in this picture, but it was huge!!! It barely fit in my fridge and it weighed at least 25 lbs! I made my Mocha Chocolate Cake with Mocha Chocolate Buttercream! I decided I wanted to decorate the cake a little so I made a stethescope out of fondant and made the EMS symbol out of fondant as well! We went the next day to drop it off and I was excited to see the reactions! My husband went back done there later on to pick up the payment and they told him not only did everyone love the cake, most people went back for seconds!! I absolutely LOVE hearing postive feedback!! :)

Aaargh!!! Birthday Pirate Cake! 5/2012

Pirate Cake and Cupcakes!

So....I was asked by a lady I used to work with if I could make a Pirate cake for her son's 6th birthday party. It was kind of short notice but I was up for the challenge!! I made my homemade marble cake with just vanilla buttercream. I made the Cake's pirate face out of fondant and attached it to the cake before I dropped it off....funny story....I also made mini pirate faces to go on all the cupcakes. I was up until 3 am making them all, I sat them on the kitchen table overnight to let them harden. The next morning (or should I say an hour before I had to deliver them) my daughter, (15 months old) without my knowledge climbed up onto the kitchen chair and peeled off all the pirate hats of every single fondant pirates and ate them or demolished them!!! OMG...what could I do but laugh and bust into tears because I knew I didn't have time to re-do all of them!! Thankfully Angie (lady who ordered this cake) knows Lila (my daughter) and thought it was really funny and was understanding! Thankfully also I had gone out the day before to purchase pirate cupcake liners and they happen to come with Pirate Flags, so I was able to stick those in the cupcakes instead! Crisis adverted! :)

Cupcakes for Em!!! 5/2012

My friend Emily asked me to make her 50 mini cupcakes for a church get together she was going to. So these were vanilla cupcakes with vanilla and chocolate buttercream! They were so tiny you could just pop them into your mouth!! Hope they all liked them!! :)

Aunt Jeanne's Birthday Cupcakes! 4/2012

My Aunt Jeanne turned 60 this week and the family thru her a whole weekend of festivities! I made her two different cakes...the cupcakes shown here were her "candles" birthday cake (Vanilla Funfetti cake with Pink Vanilla Buttercream) and I also made her a Trifle with fat free, sugar fee vanilla pudding layered with cool whip, angel food cake, strawberries and blueberries. (I forgot to take a picture of that one!!).

40 Cupcake- Birthday Party! 4/2012

Chocolate Mocha Cupcake with Chocolate Buttercream.
Chocolate Mocha Cupcake with Peanut Butter Buttercream!
I was asked by a new customer if I could make 40 cupcakes for a Birthday party she was having. She wanted a chocolate cupcake with Peanut butter buttercream and chocolate buttercream. I put peanut butter cups on the peanut butter ones and a strawberry on the chocolate ones. I thought it dressed it up a little and it was easier to tell which cupcakes were which! I hope everyone enjoyed them! :)
